17 Sep 2012: Azam 5th witness testimony

After dealing with the Nizami case, the tribunal moved onto take evidence from the 5th prosecution witness in the Golam Azam case [See 4th witness here]

Prosecution Witness Mr. Ijabuddin Miah who is an Assistant Librarian of Bangla Academy was present. The Tribunal dealt with Seizure List-1.
Mr. Ijabuddin told that the Investigation Officer on 27-02-11 came to him and asked for 24 pieces of papers cutting from 06.04.1971 to 22.09.1971 of Doinik Pakistan [a daily newspaper] and he provided those. Prosecution counsel Mr. Sultan Mahmud was assisting the Tribunal dealing with the seizure list and court was noting down the heading of the news, dates of publication of that newspaper and the exhibit number.

From the newspaper of Doinik Pakistan (Daily Pakistan) the I.O. seized 24 pieces of cutting by seizure list and the Tribunal gave the exhibit numbers. They are from 51 to 73. Their publication dates were from 06.04.1971 to 22.09.1971.

After that Mr. Ijabuddin also told that in 28.02.2011 the I.O. again went to him and asked for 24 pieces of papers cutting of Doinik Ettefak (a daily newspaper) from 16.06.1971 to 02.12.1971. I gave it to him. The Tribunal was noting down the heading, dates of publication of such specific copies of newspaper and the exhibit numbers.

From the newspaper Doinik Ettefak (Daily Etteak) the I.O. seized 24 pieces of papers cutting and the Tribunal gave the exhibit numbers. They are from 74-98. Their publication dates were from 16.06.1971 to 02.12.1971

Then Mr. Ijabuddin again told that the I.O on 08.03.2011 came to him and asked for 18 pieces of papers cutting of Doinik Purbadesh (a daily newspaper) published from date 06.04.1971 to 27.11.1971. He gave it to him. The Tribunal was noting down the heading, dates of publication of such specific copies of newspaper and the exhibit numbers.

From the newspaper Doinik Purbadesh (Daily Purbadesh) the I.O. seized 18 pieces of papers cutting and the Tribunal given the exhibit numbers. They are from 99-116. Their dates of publication were from 06.04.1971 to 27.11.1971.

Then Mr. Ijabuddin again told that the I.O. on 15.03.2011 came to him and asked for 30 pieces of papers cutting of Daily Observer (a daily newspaper) published from date 01.01.1972 to 28.02.1972. He gave it to him. The court was noting down the heading, dates of publication of such specific copies of newspaper and the exhibit numbers.

From the newspaper Daily Observer the I.O. seized 30 pieces of papers cutting and the Tribunal has given the exhibit numbers. Their publication dates were from 01.01.1972 to 28.02.1972. They are from 117-137.
