After the tribunal read out the Quasem Ali bail order, the tribunal then moved onto the continuation of the cross examination of the witness Gourango Singha who had given evidence in the case of Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, continuing from the previous day
Defence: Whether you have returned to Bangladesh with Profullo Chandra with others after the liberation?

Witness: Yes.

Defence: Mr. Abdullah Al Harun has constant connection with your family before and after the liberation war.

Witness: Yes.

Defence: In 1971, Mr. Abdullah Al Noman was not the supporter of Awami League; but Mr Abdullah Al Noman and others were the supporters of Awami League.

Witness: Yes.

Defence: Mr. MR Siddiqi, M A Hannan, and Johur Ahmed along with others went to Kundeshwari frequently.

Witness: I have heard that.

Defence: Those persons have suggested Notun Chandra to move towards India at 1971.

Witness: I have heard that.

Defence: After returning to Bangladesh Mr. Shotto Ronjon has filed two cases. One is 41(1)72- which was against Fazlul Quader Chowdhury about the killing of Notun Chandra Singha. And the other was 42(1)72- which was against Johur Mia for arson.

Witness: I have heard about the first one.

Defence: The case no- 42(1)72 is about a case where Shotto Ronjon has filed a case against Johur Mia for looting the house.

Witness: I don’t know.

Defence: The previous case is holding the case number- 41(1)72. And do you know under which sections the case has been filed?

Witness: I don’t know.

Defence: In this murder case some depositions have been made, afterwards all the accused have been acquitted.

Witness: I don’t know.

Defence: Whether the Government has withdrawn the case of looting?

Witness: I don’t know.

Defence: On the murder case, you were not said to have given statement.

Witness: No, I was not asked.

Defence: What is the width of the balcony of Mr. Notun Chandra?

Witness: About 6-7 feet may be.

Defence: The corpse of Mr. Notun Chandra was left beside the Balcony. What was the distance between the corpse and the balcony?

Witness: 3 to 4 feet.

Defence: There are buildings around the Mondir; from 3 sides.

Witness: Yes.

Defence: These are all two storied.

Witness: Yes.

Defence: The farm houses were at the north-west zone.

Witness: Yes.

Defence: It is situated outside the western side of the main gate.

Witness: Yes.

Defence: There were a factory go-down and garage at the far south side.

Witness: Yes.

Defence: There was a factory of medicine adjacent to the garage.

Defence: There is another factory of medicine at the south side.

Witness: There was one farm house. There stays the farmers and the materials of farming were secured there.

Defence: How many farmers were there?

Witness: About 35 to 40. Except two or three; all the farmers have left the place during the liberation war.

Defence: In 1971 there was a pond beside the east side of the farm house.

Witness: Yes. There was a pond at the east side, there was no house at the east side of the pond; there was a Mondir and a toilet there.

Defence: There was a big pond beside the main gate.

Witness: Yes.

Defence: Whether there was a monument of Mr. Notun Chandra Singha beside the bank of the pond?

Witness: Yes. And the monument is of Mr. Notun Chandra’s.

Defence: You have left towards India on the suggestion of Keshto Mohajon and Mr. Harun.

Witness: Yes.

Defence: Your family has left towards India with Mr. Noman.

Witness: Yes.

Defence: When did Profullo Chandra leave towards India.

Witness: I can’t say the date. But he has left after 2 or 3 days from the death of Mr. Notun Chandra.

Defence: When did you leave to go towards India?

Witness: After the 2 or 3 days from the death of Mr. Notun Chandra Singha.

Defence: Which way did you prefer to go to reach India.

Witness: I have moved over Agartola and then reached Kolkata of India.

Defence: For how long you have stayed at Agartola?

Witness: 1 day.

Defence: Whether have you met Shotto Ronjon and Profullo Ronjon after reaching India?

Witness: Yes.

Defence: You have met Shotto Ronjon and Profullo Ronjon within 10 days of the incident of the killing of their father.

Witness: Yes.

Defence: Whether you have informed about the incident?

Witness: They were already informed before I reacedh there.

Defence: After reaching India Mr. Profullo Chandra didn’t return to Bangladesh before 16th December, 1971.

Witness: Yes.

Defence: Whether you have sen the Armies move over the Rangamati Road when Mr. Profullo Chandra has left towards India.

Witness: No. We didn’t go outside from the home; so we didn’t watch anything.

Defence: Whether you have asked the Bihari Guard about the movement of Army?

Witness: The guard has left after hearing the chaotic situation. Everyone left. We have left our doors open.

Defence: Whether you were prepared about the coming of Army at Kundeshwari?

Witness: No we were not prepared; but we knew the armies will come.

Defence: Where did Notun Chandra secure his money.

Witness: Downstairs.

Defence: Whether you have heard the sound of the transport of the Armies who were coming towards Kundeshwari?

Witness: Yes. We have heard the sound and horn of an Army jeep. And our dog was barking

Defence: When the Armies left the transport, what did you do?

Witness: We all started fleeing away.

Defence: Where is the house of Himangshu Boiddo situated?

Witness: At the south side of our house.

Defence: In which building of Kundeshwari, were you staying?

Witness: At the southern side of the first floor of the western building.

Defence: What is the distance between the house of Brojhoti Kormokar and the Kundeshwari Complex?

Witness: About 2 to 2 ½ miles.

Defence: You didn’t mention it to the Investigation Officer that among the collaborators of this country I have recognized one named Mabud

Witness: Not true.

Defence: There was no college at Kundeshwari at 1971.

Witness: There was a college.

Defence: You didn’t mention the matter of watching Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury leave the Army Jeep.

Witness: Not true.

Defence: Mr. Profullo Chandra and the Investigation Officer has made you tell lies about all the above matters and this is why you are saying what you are saying

Witness: Not true.

Defence: How many Army men have come?

Witness: I don’t know the exact number.

Defence: The army men surrounded the Kundeshwari Complex.

Witness: Not true. Kundeshwari Complex is such a vast place.

Defence: Is staircase situated where Mr. Notun stays?

Witness: It was at the southern side of the building.

Defence: Did the army loot the moneys?

Witness: I didn’t ask anyone. There was money preserved in the home always.

Defence: How many Army vehicles have come there?

Witness: I don’t know.

Defence: Whether in 1971 the animals came to the Kundeshwari Complex from the nearby area.

Witness: No.

Defence: There were paddy fields around the Kundeshwari Complex.

Witness: Yes.

Defence: That was the season of harvest.

Witness: Yes.

Defence: Whether there was a good connection between Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury and Shotto Ronjon?

Witness: Yes.

Witness: We didn’t take the amount formally. We were taking money to run our livelihood.

Defence: Who was in charge of the complex after Mr. Notun Died?

Witness: I don’t know.

Defence: Whether Chitto Ronjon was taking any money from the Complex?

Witness: He was taking money till the death of his father; afterwards he didn’t taken money.

Defence: How many children does Mr. Chitto have?

Witness: Three.

Defence: Who is the Chairman of Kundeshwari Complex?

Witness: Nomita Singh, wife of Shotto ROnjon Singha is the Chairman; she does not have any office.

Defence: A book has been published in the memory of Mr. Notun Chandra Singha for his 100th birth Anniversary named- “Sriti Dip”

Witness: Yes.

Defence: There is an article of Mr. Profullo named “Amar Baba o kichu Otit Sriti.”

Witness: I have not yet read the book.

Defence: When the Army came in total 28 persons were killed. Among them Ratul Sing; Usha De and Leba were included.

Witness: I can’t remember.

Witness: I have met several persons who were known to me.

Witness: I don’t know.
