Following the hearing relating to Sayedee's case, the tribunal started with the lawyer of Salauddin Quader Chowdhury continuing with the cross examination of Salimullah (continued from the previous day)
Defence: Did you ever hear the name of Shangram Parishad of which Awami Leaguer or the neutrals were the majority members.
Witness: I have heard the name of Shangram Parishad, but I know nothing about whom the majority of the members supported.
Defence: Have you heard the name of famous freedom fighter Doctor. Mahfujur Rahman?
Witness: Yes.
Defence: Did you read his book on liberation war?
Witness: No.
Defence: Do you know, without his recommendation no certificate of freedom fighting was being issued?
Witness: No.
Defence: Mr, Jafor Ahmed Chowdhury and Najrul Islam were the coordinator of that Shangram Parishad of Jamalkhan. Do you know?
Witness: I don’t know Jafor Ahmed Chowdhury. I know Najrul Islam, but whether he was the coordinator of the Shangram Parishad or not that was not in my knowledge.
Defence: Whether Advocate Nurul Hossain was the coordinator of Andorkilla which was adjacent to Momin Road?
Witness: I don’t know whether he was the coordinator or not.
Defence: Whether Nurul Islam was the coordinator of Shangram Parishad of the Obhoymitroghat area?
Witness: I don’t know.
Defence: Abdus Sattar Road and Goods Hill falls under the area of Rahmatganj and Advocate Johirul Haque was a resident of that area. Do you know him?
Witness: Yes. He was the Government pleader. I don’t know whether he was the coordinator of that area, but he was the Chairman of the Shanti Committee of Cox’s Bazar.
Defence: Advocate Moinur Rahman was the Chairman of Cox’s bazaar Shanti Committee.
Witness: I don’t know.
Defence: You didn’t mention it to the Investigation Officer that two of friends were residing in house no- 42.
Witness: I told them
Defence: When you have met Mr. Runu and Mr, Nihar for the last time?
Witness: I’ve met Mr. Runu 6 months ago and Mr. Nihar at a wedding ceremony.
Defence: You have seized their house in 1971 and afterwards made false documents to assist you.
Witness: You are totally vague.
Defence: There was a lady named Rotna Biswash.
Witness: Not true.
Defence: You have a personal clash with Mr. Khoka, about the matter of the said Rotna Biswash.
Witness: Not true.
Defence: There arose a dispute between you and the boys of locality about the matter of Ms. Rotna. Hence a carof Army was moving thereby, and they have pushed you to that car.
Witness: You have made a very fine story to humiliate me. You are totally wrong.
Defence: You didn’t mention it to the Investigation officer that one of your workers came to you and stated two of your workers have been taken and being beaten up brutally.
Witness: I mentioned that.
Defence: What time was that?
Witness: 5 P.M.
Defence: You didn’t mention it to the investigation officer that Syed Wahidul Alam, Jafor Prokash Mahbub, Saifuddin (Fazlul Quader Chowdhury’s youngest son) - they were coordinating the Al-Shams. And Fazlul Quader Chowdhury and Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury was directing the activities of Al-Shams.
Witness: Not true. I mentioned that
Defence: Where were the headquarter of Al-Shams situated?
Witness: By the activities of the group it seems to me that their headquarter was situated at the Goods Hill.
Defence: The headquarter was situated right at the opposite side of the City College where the Ansar Camp was situated.
Witness: It is not in my knowledge.
Defence: The Razakar, Al-Badar, AL-Shams was the groups which were being operated by the Government and it was running on with the Government money.
Witness: It might be that Fazlul Quader Chowdhury or Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury might have taken the money and continued operating the groups.
Defence: It is false statement.
Witness: It is true.
Defence: Razakar, Al- Badar, Al-Shams was not a private force; rather it was a Government force.
Witness: I don’t know whether it was the Government force or not.
