29 Feb 2012: Quamruzzaman adjournment

The tribunal sat without Justice Fazle Kabir.

Advocate Tajul Islam came to the dais and sought an adjournment in relation to the case of Quamaruzzaman. (Cognizance had been taken by the tribunal at a previous hearing) He said that they had received the documents from the Prosecution on 7th February, which contains 5,248 pages, that it had taken nearly 7 days to do the photocopying task and that it was  quite impossible to get prepared within a very few days. They were therefore praying for 6 weeks preparation time.

Justice Nizamul Haque passed the following order

Mr. Tajul Islam appearing on behalf of the defence is saying that they have received the documents on 7th February. Till today they couldn’t consult their clients. He submits that- the next date for the privileged communication is 3rd March, 2012. The Prosecution objects.

As it is a first incident of adjournment about this matter, let the matter be fixed on 18th March, 2012 for charge hearing matter. On that day the accused is required to be produced before the Tribunal.

And the Tribunal was adjourned.
